The mobile as an integrated enabling device

I am just writing down a few features and services I would really like my mobile to have, based around considering the mobile phone as an integrated enabling davice, more than a communication device. I am not sure if any of these “dream” services already exists. If they do, then please let me know and will upgrade my gear, otherwise, just pass the suggestion on to the mobile product guys

1- hassle-free address book sync

I would love to have all my addresses always and easily synchronized with outlook, my yahoo mail account and my palm. Just one address book, not the 10 or 12 I have. Always synced, automatically. No hassle. Find a telephone number on the internet? drag and drop, and everything, everywhere is up to date. Please include my Yahoo! IM buddy list, Linkedin, Plaxo and a couple of social network if you have some spare time. I want all of them available through my mobile.

2- proximity texts

I am having a pint at “The Sun” with a couple of friends. Great if it could become a get together for friends. I write a text with an invitation, set a time range, choose a group of friends, and fire it. The carrier cares to check who is nearby and delivers the text with the invitation and the coordinates. John and Steve reply from two different locations, and after 30 minutes they show up. A good service, and a good revenues source for carriers.

3- text-enabled calendar

Can I slot an event in your calendar using a text message? Easy stuff, like “10/02 20.00 beer at the Sun. Yahoo! folks. Y/N”. Send to a group, collect feedback. You might even want to add GPS coordinate if you have one of the latest mobile gear.

4- paycard

Now that John and Steve have showed up and we had our beers, can I just pay the bill with my mobile? There is all in there, credit card and debit card details. Can I just beam them to the counter?

Maybe they are useless… or maybe not. But you might have others… care to tell?
