Instagram photo sharing for iphone has just gone viral – or almost. It took 3 months to get to 1 million users, and just another 5 or 6 weeks to get to 2 million.

If you check the application, it ticks all the boxes to be viral: let you take pictures with your iphone, transform them with filters, and post on twitter and facebook. Of course, instagram will scan your contacts book, facebook or twitter lists to see if any of your friends is already online -if you want-, helping to spread itself virally. Easy to use, potentially addictive, always with you, network effect etc etc etc
